PREP FOOTBALL: Vinemont falls at Madison Academy 49-6

MADISON, Ala. – Vinemont traveled to Madison to take on the Mustangs of Madison Academy Friday night and unfortunately for the road crowd, the home team came away with a 49-6, homecoming victory.

Vinemont surprised the Mustang’s with an onside kick to start the game, the kick was recovered by Vinemont’s Kyler Pugh. Vinemont moved the ball, but a fumble gave the ball to the Mustangs. Midway through the first quarter Madison Academy found the endzone on a 1-yard touchdown run to go up 7-0.

The Mustangs found the endzone with 3:16 remaining in the first quarter to go up 14-0. Early in the second quarter Madison Academy found the endzone again, and two more times in the first half. Madison Academy put its last touchdown on the board early in the fourth quarter to go up 49-0. Vinemont’s Josh Rhodes raced 64 yards for a touchdown to put Vinemont on the board with four minutes remaining in the game, bringing the final score to 49-6.

The Eagles fall to 1-6 with the loss and will be back on the road next week for a regional battle at Danville.
