CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman’s newest burger joint hosted a soft opening Wednesday, Oct. 11, inviting local officials and VIPs to sample the menu. Whataburger’s arrival has been highly anticipated by locals since it was announced in October 2022.
Marketing Manager Shaundra Lancaster, Director of Operations Andrew Lanyon and Operating Partner Moe Rahman patrolled the freshly waxed floor, ensuring their VIP guests had an equally VIP experience. Invitees including Cullman County Commission members, law enforcement officers and more of Cullman’s city and county officials were welcomed. Later, team members welcomed friends and family.
Lanyon described the soft opening timeline Wednesday, saying, “We have our friends and families event tonight. From 5-6:30 we kick off our VIP. So all those city officials will be here from 5-6:30. From 6:30-8, it will be friends and families up there with the staff. Their families come in and kind of get to see their work and kind of test our product.”
It wasn’t just about testing product and practicing customer service, Lanyon added. It was also about preparing the team and familiarizing them with the community and the product. “It gives the team that exposure to what they can expect on opening day, you know; it’s beneficial on both sides.”
Whataburger officially opens to the public Saturday, Oct. 14, at 11 a.m. and will be open 24 hours day, 364 days a year.
Lanyon said cheekily, “We open Saturday at 11 a.m., and we will be open to the public and open 24 hours a day 364 days a year, and the one day we’re closed is Christmas.”
Whataburger is located at 2001 Cherokee Ave. SW in Cullman.
