CULLMAN, Ala. – Spooky season is here, and pumpkins are begging to be carved. Grab your tools and crew and join The Cullman Tribune’s pumpkin carving contest! A family of ghosts would be sure to spook the most, a vampire with pointy fangs will definitely go over with a bang or a witch with a broom or a wolf howling at the moon. So locate your gear, clear your afternoon and get creative.
Showcase your scary carving skills and submit pictures of your spooktacular creations. The wicked winner will be announced the week before Halloween, and claim a gargantuan bag of candy to start the season’s sugar rush. No, it’s no trick; submit your carved pumpkin pictures and you could win a ton of treats!
- Step 1 Gather the masses, choose your pumpkin and prepare the area with a large trash bag or tarp to protect from pumpkin guts.
- Step 2 Collect your carving utensils, spoons, tracing sheets and kits (tracing sheets and kits are not necessary; they simply aid the less creative).
- Step 3 Cut your top, evacuate the pumpkin innards and use your tracing sheet, markers and outlines or your own spooky creativity, and get carving!
Step 4 Submit your photos by posting them in the comments section of this story on The Tribune’s Facebook page, and the spookiest pumpkin will be chosen the week before Halloween!
