Dodge City Tattoo Company hosting 2nd annual Halloween & Horror Art Market
CULLMAN, Ala. – In the midst of trunk-or-treats and pumpkin patches, genuine Halloween enthusiasts and old-school horror purists may find themselves a bit lost in the sea of orange flannels, wide-brimmed hats and pumpkin spice lattes. It seems even spooky season has gotten a little less spooky over the years, disappointing those who live life on the edgier side. Enter Dodge City Tattoo Company, answering the call by offering a creative, authentic and gritty art market along with flash tattoo specials on the scariest day of the year: Friday the 13th.
The second annual Halloween & Horror Art Market begins at noon on Friday, Oct. 13, at Dodge City Tattoo Company. Dozens of local artisans and oddity curators will be offering everything from custom treat bags for trick-or-treating to wet and dry specimens to make your space even more intriguing; from kitsch to creepy, you’re sure to find something to spook and satisfy.
For those looking for a more permanent souvenir of the market, Dodge City Tattoo Company will be offering flash art specials starting at $31. John Riendeau, owner of Dodge City Tattoo Company, said he expects visitors well into the hundreds, and he has brought on several artists from surrounding studios to help keep up with the demand. In the world of tattooing, cash is king, so be prepared and arrive early if you’re hoping to get some ink therapy.
Food trucks and live music will be on-site to round out the festival feel. Riendeau maintained that while the event is definitely catered to classic Halloween and horror fans, it is a family friendly environment that kids of any age can enjoy.
When asked what Tribune readers can expect when they attend, Riendeau kept it short and sweet and spoke plainly when he laughed, “It ain’t your grandma’s Halloween market!”
