CULLMAN COUNTY, Ala. – A Vinemont man was killed in single-engine plane crash in Cullman County Friday morning, Sept. 29, 2023. Cullman County Coroner Jeremy Kilpatrick said William Scott Smith, 54, was pronounced dead at the crash site.
The crash happened just before noon. Cullman County Sheriff’s Office Director of Communications Lt. Chad Whaley said the crash site was between County Roads 1492 and 1488 near the Gold Ridge Community Center.
“There was a single plane crash near County Road 1488. Cullman County Sheriff’s Office is securing the scene for the NTSB,” Whaley said Friday afternoon. “I was informed a few minutes ago that they will not be on scene until tomorrow.”
