LOCUST FORK, Ala. – The Cold Springs Eagles hit the road Friday night for a regional matchup at Locust Fork but unfortunately for Eagle fans, the Hornets scored early and often on their way to a dominant, 56-8 win.

The Hornets scored early to jump out to a 7-0 lead over the Eagles and a 16-yard touchdown run extended Locust Fork’s lead to 14-0 later in the first quarter. The Hornets continued to add to their lead in the opening period, taking a 28-0 lead by the start of the second.

The Eagles continued to struggle offensively, and Locust Fork tacked on two more touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 42-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Hornets finished two more drives in the end zone to build a 56-0 advantage going into the fourth quarter, but Cold Springs was finally able to get on the board in the final frame. Mason Gable ran through defenders and into the end zone from 14 yards out and Tycen Kilgo punched in the two-point conversion to trim the lead to 56-8. Unfortunately, those were the only points the Eagles could get on the board and Cold Springs fell to Locust Fork on the road 56-8.

The Eagles will return home next week to host a homecoming matchup against Shoals Christian.
