CENTRE, Ala. – The Hanceville Bulldogs hit the road for a regional battle at Cherokee County Friday night and unfortunately for Bulldog fans, the Warriors were in control of this one from start to finish, defeating Hanceville 55-0.
Cherokee County scored on its opening possession to take an early, 7-0 lead but a big return on the ensuing kickoff gave the Bulldogs great starting field position on their first possession. However, Hanceville was forced to turn the ball over on downs and give the ball back to the Warriors. Cherokee County’s second scoring drive extended the lead to 14-0 midway through the second quarter and the Warriors tacked on two more touchdowns before the end of the period to take a 28-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Cherokee County continued to pull away in the second half, putting two more scores on the board to build a 42-0 lead going into the fourth quarter and the Warriors found the end zone two more times in the final frame to wrap up a 55-0 win over the Bulldogs.
Hanceville falls to 2-3 with the loss and will be back home next week to face Lawrence County.
