UPDATE: The driver of the Chrysler 300 has been identified.
DECATUR POST – A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, has claimed two lives. Sydni M. Helms, 22, of Jasper, was fatally injured when the 2014 Jeep Wrangler she was driving collided head-on with the 2017 Chrysler 300 driven by Katherine M. Lambert, 20, of Remlap. After the initial collision both vehicles caught fire and both Helms and Lambert were pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. The crash occurred on Alabama 91 near the 17-mile marker, approximately eight miles south of Hanceville, in Cullman County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.

HANCEVILLE, Ala. —Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, south of Hanceville.
Alabama State Troopers said Sydni M. Helms, 22, of Jasper, was fatally injured when the 2014 Jeep Wrangler she was driving collided head-on with a 2017 Chrysler 300. After the initial collision, both vehicles caught fire.
Helms was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash occurred on Alabama Highway 91, approximately 8 miles south of Hanceville, in Cullman County.
