Era Faye Denney, of Holly Pond, Alabama, passed away on Thursday morning, Sep. 14, 2023, at the age of 86. Ms. Denney was born May 24, 1937, in Blount County, Alabama, to Grady and Velma McCollum Doyle.
Ms. Denney worked as a dietician for Cullman Regional Medical Center before retiring. She loved to cook, sew, read, and was always laughing and joking with those around her. Faye was a member of Holly Pond First Baptist Church where she enjoyed worshipping her Savior. She enjoyed spending time with those she loved, and her son and his family brought her much joy. Faye will be greatly missed.
Ms. Denney is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of sixty-one years, Curtis Howard Denney; brother, Herman Doyle; sisters, Bonnie McDonald (Russell), Janice Butts (Derwood); and sister-in-law, Jean Glenn.
Those surviving Ms. Denney are her son, Dwayne Denney (Pam); grandchildren, Chris Denney (Elizabeth Hicks), Megan Denney Phillips (Tylor); great-grandchildren, Mattie Denney, Major Phillips; brother-in-law, James C Glenn; nieces and nephews, Tommie Barton (Jennifer), Garry McDonald, Susan Vodvarka, Kay Shedd, Pam Glenn; and close friends, Roger Davis, Sherrell “Moochie” Barnett, and Ronnie McGriff.
Funeral services for Ms. Denney are 3 p.m., Sunday, Sep. 17, 2023, in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Benjamin Smothers officiating. Friends are invited to visit with the family an hour prior to services, from 2 p.m., until service time. Burial will follow services in Holly Pond Cemetery where Ronnie McGriff, Roger Davis, Moochie Barnett, Garry McDonald, Tylor Phillips, and Chris Denney will serve as pallbearers.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Tommie and Jennifer Barton for their compassionate care of Ms. Faye in her final days.
