ATHENS, Ala. – After opening the season with wins over Columbia and Priceville, the Fairview Aggies kicked off region play on the road against East Limestone Friday night and they returned home with an impressive, 56-21 victory over the Indians.
East Limestone struck first, taking a 7-0 lead on a 74-yard touchdown pass just 20 seconds into the game but the Aggies punched right back, tying the game at 7 with 10:29 remaining in the first quarter when Jameson Goble ran one into the end zone from 14 yards out and Kolt Redding knocked through the extra point. Fairview added another touchdown midway through the first on a 31-yard touchdown run by Barrett York to move in front 14-7 going into the second and the Aggies stretched their lead to 21-7 with 10:17 to play in the first half when Jake Harper took a handoff 85 yards all the way to the house. The Indians were able to find the end zone again later in the second quarter to trim the lead to 21-14 at halftime.
Harper wasn’t finished, and his next touchdown came on an 80-yard run that put Fairview up 28-14 early in the third quarter. East Limestone scored again to make it a 28-21 game, but it was all Aggies after that. Harper punched in his third touchdown of the night with five minutes to play in the third to take a 35-21 lead and Harper got loose again for a 52-yard touchdown the final three minutes of the third quarter to take a 42-21 advantage into the fourth.
Fairview tacked on two more touchdowns in the final period on a 58-yard scoring run by Carson Jones and a 12-yard touchdown from Colby Bentley to wrap up a 56-21 win over East Limestone and a 1-0 start in Region 8.
Fairview’s rushing attack dominated the game, starting with Jake Harper who led the Aggies with over 238 yards and four touchdowns on the ground in the win. Carson Jones, Barrett York, Colby Bentley and Jameson Goble each added rushing touchdowns for Fairview as well.
The Aggies will return home next week to host the Good Hope Raiders.
