SULLIGENT, Ala. – The Cold Springs Eagles traveled to Sulligent Friday night for their first regional battle of the season and after scoring to take an early lead in the opening period, the Blue Devils scored 42 unanswered points to pull away and win it 49-8.
Sulligent took an early, 7-0 lead over Cold Springs but the Eagles responded quickly with a touchdown of their own. Cold Springs’ two-point conversion attempt was successful, and the Eagles moved out in front of the Blue Devils 8-7. However, Sulligent was able to take control of the rest of the first half. A touchdown and a safety put the Blue Devils in front 15-8 going into the second quarter and they added three more touchdowns before halftime to extend their lead to 35-8 going into the locker room at the break.
Unfortunately for the Eagles faithful in the stands, Cold Springs wasn’t able to chip away in the second half and Sulligent went on defeat the Eagles 49-8.
Cold Springs falls to 2-1 with the loss and the Eagles will be back home next week for another regional matchup against Lamar County.
