Man killed in industrial accident at Cullman Casting Corporation

CULLMAN, Ala. – A man was killed in an industrial accident at Cullman Casting Corporation late Thursday night, Aug. 31. Cullman County Coroner Jeremy Kilpatrick said the body of Michael Thompson, 38, of Guntersville, was discovered by a coworker near a machine.

A 911 call about an industrial accident was received by local dispatchers just before 11 p.m. According to reports, Thompson suffered significant injuries. 

“He was pronounced deceased on the scene,” Kilpatrick said. 

The reports stated the coworker rushed over to another part of the facility in a panic after discovering Thompson. The two were working in separate locations at the time of the accident according to the initial call at 10:45 p.m.

According to Cullman Casting Corporation’s website, “CCC is a newly constructed, state-of-the-art gray iron foundry located in Cullman, Alabama. A wholly owned subsidiary of North Vernon Industry Corporation, Cullman Casting utilizes V-Process molding for counterbalance products. We have received numerous supplier awards for Quality, Cost and Delivery.”

Cullman Casting Corporation is located at 251 County Road 490.
