Funeral service for Judith Ann Bates, 82, of Cullman, will be at 1 p.m., Friday, Aug. 25, 2023 at Bethsadia Baptist Church, Rev. Truman Davis officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. prior to the service. The visitation for Mrs. Bates will be Thursday evening at Cullman Funeral Home from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Mrs. Bates passed away Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2023 at CRMC. She was born Jan. 24, 1941 to James Harvey and Lola Josephine Simonton Cobbs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dewitt Bates; brother, Harvey Cobbs; nephew, David Cobbs; grandchildren, Heather Bates, Alexandria Bates.
Survivors include her sons, Bruce (Debbie) Bates, Brian (Sarah) Bates; daughter, Denise (Jim) Phillips; sister-in-law, Joyce Cobbs; niece, Kelly Sue Cobbs; nephew, Kevin (Stacie) Cobbs; great nieces and nephew, Gracie, Hannah and Caden Cobbs; grandchildren, Jessica (Jason) Gorham, Jake (Mandi) Phillips, Mark (Katie Jo) Bates, Dustin Venz, Brent Mitchell (Lenae) Bates, Ella Bates, Colt Bates; great-grandchildren, Jacy Gorham, Jayla Gorham, Jaron Gorham, Cameron Phillips, Chase Phillips, Aiden Jimenez, Witt Bates, Matthew Venz, Evelyn Bates, Bryce Bates; family and friends.
Grandsons will be pallbearers.
