AUBURN, Ala. – Five Auburn Tigers, representing offense, defense and special teams, earned recognition on the 2023 Preseason Coaches All-Southeastern Conference Football Team, the SEC announced Tuesday.

Running back Jarquez Hunter, tight end Luke Deal, offensive lineman Kam Stutts, defensive back Nehemiah Pritchett and punter Oscar Chapman from SEC coaches.

A three-year starter at cornerback, Pritchett has made 91 career tackles and broken up 22 passes since earn playing time as a true freshman in 2019. He made 4.5 tackles for loss last season and has recorded two career interceptions.

Hunter, a 5-10, 210-pound junior, has rushed for 1,269 yards and 10 touchdowns in his first two seasons on the Plains, adding 285 receiving yards and three TDs. He brings a 6.6-yard-per-carrry average into his junior season.

Deal, a 6-5, 255-pound senior, earned a reputation as one of the SEC’s better blocking tight ends. He made a career-best 32-yard reception vs. Ole Miss last season and hauled in his first touchdown catch in 2021 vs. Mississippi State.

The 6-5, 339-pound Stutts, in his sixth fall at Auburn, started six games at right guard in 2022 and two at left guard.

Entering his fourth season as Auburn’s starting punter, Chapman was a Ray Guy Award semifinalist in 2022, when he ranked fourth in the SEC averaging 43.9 yards on 57 punts. He ranked second in the SEC as a sophomore in 2021 averaging 44.1 yards per kick.

The SEC begins the 2023 season Saturday, Aug. 26 when Vanderbilt hosts Hawaii.
