CULLMAN, Ala. – On Aug. 17, members of the local camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans (Thomas Jefferson Denney Camp #1442) presented two checks to Steven Sutter, director of Cullman Caring for Kids.

The camp won a community service award at the SCV’s Division Reunion earlier this year. As a result of that award, the Alabama Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans donated $500 in the name of Thomas Jefferson Denney Camp #1442 to Cullman Caring for Kids. The camp added an additional $300 check from the funds members raised, for a combined total of $800.

The camp appreciates the support it has received from the community throughout the years and plans to continue contributions to Cullman County charities.

The Sons of Confederate Veterans is a heritage organization, and membership is open to descendants of Confederate veterans. The local camp meets on the last Tuesday of every month at the Cullman VFW at 7 p.m.
