SOUTH VINEMONT, Ala. – The South Vinemont Town Council on Tuesday evening approved the purchase of new accounting software, as well as the Town’s Rebuild Alabama Transportation Plan for the 2023-2024 fiscal year.
The council approved the purchase of software from CSA Software Solutions for a total cost of $8,799. It will replace QuickBooks with the goal of making accounting processes quicker and easier to understand. The new software will be implemented on Oct. 1.
According to Town Clerk Kayecea Sasser, staff will be able to access reports easier and easily customize reports. She said it includes fund-based accounting tools that allow users to pull reports by fund, department or project, which she said will help the council members make better decisions for the Town.
The council also approved the Town’s Rebuild Alabama Transportation Plan for the 2023-2024 fiscal year. The plan will see the resurfacing of Sherrill Street. The total project cost is $40,000; $19,706.22 will be taken out of the Town’s General Fund and $20,293.78 will come from Rebuild Alabama funds. In the last fiscal year, the Transportation Plan focused on Patton Drive, and that project is still underway.
The council continues to plan for BBQ Fest, which will be held Saturday, Oct. 21, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Vinemont Sports Complex.
The next senior citizen event will be Monday, Aug. 21, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Vinemont Community Center. Council members will be preparing some of the food for the seniors to enjoy.

- Ordinance 2023-08-01 Amendment to Ordinance No. 2007-003 Section 3. (C) Business License Issue Fee
- Resolution No. 2023-08-01 Authorizing the mayor to sign lease agreement with Girl Scouts Troop #10288
The council will be meeting for its budget work session on Tuesday, Aug. 22, at 6 p.m. at South Vinemont Town Hall. The next council meeting will be held Tuesday, Sept. 12. The work session will begin at 5 p.m. and the meeting will follow at 6.
