CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Public Library on Friday morning welcomed members of the community to a celebration of Harry Potter’s birthday.
Cullman County Public Library SystemAssistant Director Josie Harrington said, “We’ve been doing our Harry Potter birthday parties for several years.”
Attendees got to create replicas of a mandrake, the iconic plant known to Harry Potter fans from “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,” the second book in the beloved series. The kids were given small pots, fake leaves and air-dry clay to mold their mandrakes. They got to use different tools to carve out shapes and faces.
Many kids arrived in their witch and wizard robes along with their wands to celebrate the day. Some even drew Harry Potter’s signature scar on their foreheads. The kids enjoyed designing their mandrakes and making new friends who share the love for the Harry Potter series. Some parents even participated in the activities.
Harrington also had the kids sign a birthday card for Harry Potter and gave them treats to take home.
The library has been hosting fun events all summer and welcomes everyone to participate in the activities. Learn more at www.facebook.com/cullmancountypubliclibrarysystem or www.ccpls.com.
