CULLMAN, Ala. – If you haven’t ordered school supplies already, Alabama’s 18th annual Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday (now through Sunday night, July 23, at midnight) is a great time to check with your child’s school and/or teacher for the exact list of school supplies you’ll need. It’s also a good chance to get any basic supplies like paper or pencils that can be used at home for homework or studying.
Additionally, it’s an excellent opportunity to take care of back-to-school clothes shopping, and it’s never a bad idea to plan ahead for the fall and winter essentials and pick up things like a new jacket, etc. that you know your child will need later in the year.
Computers are also tax free this weekend, and if you need a new computer for student use at home this can be a great time to make that purchase.
If your child has any summer reading to do ahead of the new school year, books are also tax free this weekend.
Each school has posted its school supply lists on its websites and/or social media pages. Be sure to check those out before you go shopping.
