Thoughts about the book: I can read this book again and again! There are so many layers. A very modern “Bigfoot” story that comments on our modern day lifestyle.

Title: “Weyward”

Author: Emilia Hart

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Thoughts about the book: I have mixed feelings about this book. While the cover art and the world-building is beautiful, the characters were dull. As you read, you switch perspectives between three related women. They are all branded as “weird,” and all end up being very in tune with the natural world. I liked the relationship and love these women had for plants, animals, and insects. I did not, however, love them.

Unfortunately, each of these women have a run-in with terrible men. There is one (arguably two) men who are worth their mettle. While each woman feels empowered by her “gift” (eventually) there is nothing else that really bolsters their self-confidence. Their best efforts are directed toward revenge.

Title: “A Court of Mist and Fury”

Author: Sarah J. Maas

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Thoughts about the book: This book has truly been one of my favorites; if not my favorite of the series. It’s sad, beautiful, crushing, hopeful and magical. It had me experiencing every emotion under the sun and falling absolutely in love with the characters. It is dark and sexy and romantic, and the world is captivating. LOVED this one.

Title: “Pines”

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Thoughts about the book: Detective story that takes a man to a small town in a very wooded region. The mysterious town has many secrets, and the main character finds himself the center of the mystery.
