CULLMAN, Ala. – Construction projects at Cullman Middle School and Cullman City Primary School began in May 2022, and according to Cullman City Schools Superintendent Kyle Kallhoff, the project at the primary school is set to be completed on schedule in mid-October. He said the road work around the primary school will also be completed at this time as well.

Construction at the middle school is still in phase one (of three). Kallhoff said the school board is hopeful phase one will be finished by mid-October or early November. The completion date for the project overall is set for December 2024.

The three-phase project includes a new wing with 16 classrooms that will also double as a tornado shelter on campus. A new performing arts space, library agriscience space and administrative offices are also in the works. Once work is complete, sixth-grade students will transition to Cullman Middle School from East and West Elementary.

Kallhoff also talked about some smaller projects that are being completed. The floors have been refinished at East Elementary School and the old gym at the Cullman Middle School. Next week at West Elementary School the cafeteria is being painted and a new HVAC/dehumidification project will be finished by the end of July.

Kallhoff said ground has been broken on a new maintenance building that will be across from the soccer fields on the way to the primary school.
