CULLMAN, Ala. – Bingo players were elbow to elbow at Goat Island Brewing Saturday, July 8, dotting called spaces, hoping for a chance to win items like designer bags, kitchen appliances and gifts made by local artisans. The fifth annual Beer, Bands & Bingo event was hosted by the St. Paul’s Evangelism Committee.
The venue was packed, with bartenders slinging brews to thirsty patrons and local food truck Chat & Chew doling out fresh-made meals while Brick Avenue and BREZ entertained the crowd. The event started as a fundraiser for a specific need years ago, but by popular demand has become an annual event for fellowship and friendly competition, and has steadily grown.
“We were so impressed with the huge turnout – perhaps the biggest since its inception five years ago!” smiled Elizabeth Hayes Lamar, a member of the St. Paul’s Evangelism Committee and founder of the event. Lamar said that while certain details have changed year to year, the venue has always stayed the same.
“Goat Island has been fantastic about letting us have the event here and giving back as well,” she said. “We want to thank Goat Island and their awesome staff of bartenders and event coordinators for always supporting not only St. Paul’s, but our whole community!”
