HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Hanceville Police Chief Joshua Howell was sworn in on April 13, 2023. At the June 22, 2023, Hanceville City Council meeting, he presented a one-year plan for the department. The plan outlines key strategies to improve community relations, be proactive about crime prevention, build on the training officers have already receive, and increase transparency and accountability.

Through Howell’s 16 years of experience in law enforcement in varying capacities and communities, he said, he has cultivated a “strong belief in the power of collaborative partnerships between the police and the community.”

The overall tone of the one-year plan and address to the council continued that sentiment, as Howell shared, “I am deeply committed to serving the residents of Hanceville and working collaboratively with the city council to achieve our shared vision of a safe, inclusive and thriving community.”

If you are a resident of Hanceville, Howell wants to hear from you! Please send your questions and suggestions to jhowell@cityofhanceville.net.
