Johnny William Cadle, of Holly Pond, Alabama, passed away on Saturday evening, June 17, 2023, at the age of 65. Mr. Cadle was born in Michigan, on Oct. 19, 1957, to Isaac Young and Lois Louise Horton Cadle.
“John Boy” or “Joker”, depending on how you knew Johnny, was the life of any party. He was full of sayings and jokes that made you laugh. Children loved Johnny and gravitated to him, and he loved picking and playing with them. He especially loved picking on his grandchildren.
Johnny was a talented artist and could draw anything. His favorite subject to draw was game chickens, and he also enjoyed creating self-portraits. Most of his artwork was done in shades of gray while just talking with family or friends. Johnny’s talent was enjoyed by many generations of the Bronco family. Mr. Cadle was a graduating member of the Holly Pond Class of 1976, and his painting of our beloved Holly Pond Bronco could be found on the gymnasium wall for many years.
Mr. Cadle was also a very talented musician. He never gave himself credit and believed he was only good enough to be accompaniment for others, but he was in fact a very talented guitarist. He could play anything he wanted, and his talent was exceptional.
Johnny was an animal lover. In particular, he loved chickens and dogs. He was called a chicken and dog whisperer by some, and he loved training animals. He could gain the trust of any animal and teach them to do what he wanted them to.
Johnny’s talents were not limited to the arts and animals. He worked many years as a chicken catcher for several different poultry companies, but his passion was painting flagpoles. Mr. Cadle, alone with his Uncle Belt, traveled all over the country restoring flagpoles to their original beauty. Without a ladder, Johnny would climb to the top of the flagpole in a homemade rig and paint it with skill. He was passionate about making certain Old Glory was displayed on a pristine pole.
Johnny was one of a kind and loved by many, but his pride and joy was always his daughters and grandchildren. He loved in his own way – but he very much loved his babies and was proud of them and their accomplishments. Johnny will be missed greatly and remembered for many years to come. To know Johnny was to love him.
Johnny is preceded in death by his parents. Those surviving Mr. Cadle are his daughters, Wendy Maze (Nicholas) and Jessica Burks (Rudy); grandchildren, Kayra, Tristen, Breanna, Jazmine, Alaina, Carter; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins (more than you count,) family, and friends.
Johnny considered everyone family and would figure out how you were kin. With that said, you are all invited to join as a family in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel on Friday evening, June 23, 2023, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., for a time of visitation. A celebration of Johnny’s life will take place on Saturday, June 24, 2023, in the chapel beginning at 3 p.m. Please come ready to sing, laugh, cry, and share your memories as we celebrate Johnny the way he would want to be remembered. Burial will follow services in Duck River Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family or the funeral home and will be applied to Mr. Cadle’s funeral expenses.
