FAIRVIEW, Ala. – Fairview High School Principal Dr. Chris Gambrill on Thursday, June 15, announced his retirement as a full-time educator.
“Dr. Gambrill has made a positive impact on thousands of young lives during his career in the Cullman County School System,” stated Cullman County Schools Media and Communications Specialist Ty Watwood. According to Watwood, Gambrill’s decision to retire was a personal one.
“This was not a forced retirement,” Watwood clarified. “His retirement has nothing to do with what has been insinuated on social media.”
Social media posts and posts on Cullman Daily, a local Facebook page, have insinuated or, in some cases, stated outright, that Gambrill’s retirement is due to his alleged threats to bar Cullman Daily from events at the school.
“He is going to retire, and pending board approval he will continue to work on a part-time basis with the system,” Watwood stated.
The next Cullman County School Board meeting will be held on July 13, at 3:30 p.m. in the Cullman County Schools board room.
