“Dear Cullman City School Board, it has been my honor and privilege to serve the students, parents, faculty and administration of Cullman City Schools for the last seven years. I have learned and grown alongside the students we support and represent. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the other board members that have served with me over the years, Suzanne Harbin, Lee Powell, Jason Neal. Chris Branham, Amy Carter and Cheryl Harrison. These are all very impressive people with many different backgrounds and interests, but a few common threads woven through them all. They all love kids, they all love the Lord and they all love Cullman.

I have also appreciated serving with both superintendents Dr. (Susan) Patterson and Mr. (Kyle) Kallhoff during my terms. Both superintendents have taken Cullman City Schools in a positive direction and have led with a servant’s heart. It is bittersweet to announce that I will be resigning my position of Place 1 on the Cullman City School Board effective June 30, 2023 and will also be resigning from position of Vice President of the Cullman City School Board effective immediately.

I am excited to take the position as the President of the Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce. I feel God has opened this door for me at this time in my life and I’m ready to walk through it. Chamber President is a public position representing all of Cullman County and I want to dedicate my time to accomplish and exceed the goals of the Chamber. Therefore, I need to step away from the city school board to pursue this career.

Thank you for electing me to represent you seven years ago and then again three years ago. It has been an honor. Cullman City Schools are doing big things and will continue to do so. I promise to be a huge cheerleader for you all. Go Bearcats!”

Following Orr’s letter, superintendent Kyle Kallhoff presented a Resolution to the board recognizing Orr for her years of service with the Cullman City Board of Education.

The Cullman City School Board will hold its next regularly scheduled meeting at the Central Office Tuesday, July 18 at 8:30 a.m.
