Obituary: Marshall Earnest Brannan

Funeral service for Marshall Earnest Brannan, 88, of Cullman, will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Welti Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ray Lathem, Rev. Jimmy Payton, and Jackie Satterfield officiating; interment in Welti Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home. Visitation will also be from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service on Wednesday at Welti Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Marshall grew up and attended elementary school in Welti and graduated from Fairview High School in 1953. He was a member of Welti Cumberland Presbyterian Church and served as an elder for many years. He proudly served in the United States Army with honor. He was an accountant and worked at several businesses in Cullman and later franchised with GNC.

He retired in 2006, and he and his wife Barbara enjoyed many years traveling. He was a man that loved his family, his church, and his country. His children and grandchildren were such a blessing to him.

Mr. Brannan passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at his residence. He was born Oct. 19, 1934, to Raymond and Anaher Porter Brannan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Lonnie Brannan; son, Earnest Todd Brannan; and brother, Marvin Brannan.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Allgood Brannan; daughters, Debbie (Tim) Mangum, Paige (Rae) Taylor, and Wendy (Vick) Smith; son, Eric (Rabecca) Brannan; grandchildren, Todd Moore, Stacy (Jonathan) Basinger, Jordan (Loren) Lee, Casey (Kristen) Butler, Katie Butler, Mallory (Tyler) Berry, Hunter Brannan, Kennedy Brannan, Colton Brannan, Kinley Brannan, Logan Shattuck, Christian Shattuck, Hailey (Vince) Bischoff, Makayla (Tanner) Burdette, Daniel (Kim) Taylor, Chase (Kristie) Taylor, Whit (Briana) Smith, and Shane (Jodie) Smith; 26 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
