Funeral services for Deborah Kay (Turner) Goodson, 61, of Union Grove, Alabama will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Fairview West Cemetery in Hanceville. Reverend Stanley Owensby will be officiating. Visitation for the public will be from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Tuesday at Hanceville Funeral Home.
Mrs. Debbie Goodson passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Crestwood Medical Center in Huntsville, Alabama. Debbie was born Dec. 10, 1961 to J.W. and Gaynell (Goodwin) Turner.
She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. Debbie was the baby sister of four girls and one brother and aunt to a host of many nieces and nephews.
Debbie loved Alabama Football and the Atlanta Braves. She enjoyed going to her son and granddaughter’s sporting events. Debbie also loved taking trips with her beloved husband, Gary, and her three sisters, Joan, Brenda, and Betty. She had a passion for music and dancing. Her favorite song was “Hurts So Good’ by John (Cougar) Mellencamp. Debbie never missed her favorite television shows, American Idol and The Voice, which ironically are about music. Debbie was a bright light to all of her family and everyone who knew her. She will be sorely missed.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, J.W. and Gaynell (Goodwin) Turner; her parents-in-law, Vermon and Mozelle Goodson; sister, Lana Turner; brother-in-law, Eddie Wayne Hamm; and niece, Kristy Millican.
Survivors include her husband, Gary Goodson; son, Chris Hann; two stepsons, Johnathon Goodson and Brian Goodson; granddaughters, Mahayla, Jazalyn, and Aliyah Hann; sisters, Joan Middleton, Brenda Hamm, Betty (Jim) Robertson; brother, J.W. “Buck” (Jana) Turner; nieces, Kim (Ryan) Lambert, Jenny (Brent) Terry, Tracey (Joel) Smith, Melissa (Kevin) LaRue, Whitney (Adam) Burt, and Julie Turner; nephews, Toby (Deanna) Millican, Justin Turner, James (Jamie) Robertson, and Weston Robertson.
Serving as pallbearers will be, Jim Robertson, Toby Millican, Brent Terry, Joel Smith, Kevin LaRue, Ryan Lambert, and Adam Burt.
