A couple of bootleggers made the mistake of driving with lights too dim. When officers stopped the vehicle to investigate the lights, they smelled a strong odor of “corn whiskey.” Officers found 29 gallons of Wildcat whiskey.
Mr. and Mrs. Francis Holcomb’s house and all the furnishings were completely destroyed by fire on Saturday at New Harmony.
Those attending the White City Home Demonstration meeting on October 5 at Mrs. Herman Jones house were Mesdames: Clyde Kanady, Grover Cook, T. Brooks, Jack Morgan, Senior, Jack Morgan, Junior, Calvin Ryan, C.H. Thigpen, Vesta Hicks, E. Hestla, Roy Grubbs, R.A. Jacobs, Clyde Ryan, R.O. Trimble, J.B. Keller, Max Meyer, M.E. Wamp and Miss Della Harbison.
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Bishop of Birmingham visited Mr. and Mrs. William J. Daniel and family on Sunday.
Audry Lee Moore of Spring Hill is now employed at Walgreen’s.
Mr. and Mrs. R.M. Phillips of Route One, Cullman, celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on October 8 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cosper Speegle. There were eleven children, forty-three grandchildren and nineteen great- grandchildren present.
Hoover Cobb of Piney Grove was seriously injured in an automobile accident a few days ago.
Fieldon Bell “Bud” Blalock Descendants Enjoy Family Reunion
When kinfolks get together in groups such as they did on Sunday, September 24 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Asa Blalock, you can really call it a reunion. That is just what it was. Descendants of the late F.B. (Bud) Blalock family met to visit and enjoy a day together and the good food that always goes with a gathering of that kind. There were eleven children in the original family. However, only six are living.
