Cullman Health & Rehab Center asks for help creating mural

CULLMAN, Ala. – The staff at Cullman Health & Rehab Center is asking for the community’s help creting a mural for their residents.

“We wanted something brightly colored that would liven the wall paint and bring joy to the residents,” said Activity Director Mechelle Hodgens. “The residents sit outside all of the time, and we talk about God and nature. They take in the smells, noises, colors. We decided since it was outside to do an outside scene full of beautiful flowers and insects, anything you would see outdoors.”

The facility has set Saturday, May 13, as a community day for the public to come out and help paint. Water, brushes, supplies and paint will be provided. There are set times so it will not be overcrowded. The times are 8-10 a.m., 10 a.m.-noon, noon-2 p.m. and 2-4 p.m. Sign up at https://tinyurl.com/cullmanhealthcaremural.

“We are really trying to beautify our outdoor space so it can be enjoyed by our residents,” Hodges said.

Don’t want to paint, but still want to contribute? Donations can be made to help purchase paint supplies, birdhouses, shepherd hooks and yard art.

Cullman Health & Rehab Center is located at1607 Main Ave. NE. For more information, call 256-734-8748 and ask for Mechelle Hodgens or Dyanna Busby Overton.
