SOUTH VINEMONT, Ala. – Vinemont seniors gather on the third Monday of each month at the Vinemont Community Center for fellowship and a meal, and on Monday, lunch was sponsored by the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office.

During the Monday program, seniors can also participate in games and activities like bingo and cornhole. The program started in January, and according to Town Clerk Kayecea Sasser, there has been significant turnout. The program is not limited to residents of South Vinemont; any senior is welcome.

Sheriff Matt Gentry and his department cooked for the seniors.

“It was a good opportunity to meet the citizens and then find out what’s going on in their community,” Gentry stated. “The great thing about it is that you see law enforcement and the community, the citizens standing shoulder to shoulder, and that’s something that we need across the nation. We are very proud of these events.”

In addition to the new Monday program, every Tuesday seniors can participate in an exercise program from 9 a.m.-noon at the community center.
