ALBERTVILLE, Ala. — The Cullman Lady Bearcats traveled to Albertville to face off against the Lady Aggies Friday afternoon and Cullman got off to a very quick start at the plate on the way to an 11-4 win. Reese Hopper led the way with six RBIs in the victory.

Haley Shannon reached on an infield single to lead off the game for Cullman. She stole second and scored on a bunt single by Kylie Stracener to give the Lady Bearcats the early lead. Olivia Britton reached on a fielder’s choice, then Taylor Au drew a walk. Hopper hit a three-run home run over the center field fence on the first pitch to increase their lead to 4-0.

Cullman added to their lead in the top of the third as Au hit a leadoff home run to make it a 5-0 game. Hopper followed that up with a double and later scored on a fielder’s choice by Abby Maples to stretch their lead to 6-0. The Lady Bearcats loaded the bases in the fourth inning and Hopper continued her red-hot day at the plate as she hit a bases-clearing double on the third pitch to make it a 9-0 game. Later in the inning, Hattie Graham drove in a run on a fielder’s choice and Maples added an RBI single as Cullman’s lead quickly swelled to 11-0.

Albertville got in the run column in their half as a two-run double, an RBI groundout, and a Lady Bearcat error cut it to 11-4, but Summer Storey made sure that the score didn’t change as she struck out the next batter to end the game. Cullman ended up winning their game over Albertville 11-4.

Hopper finished the game with three hits and six RBIs for Cullman. Maples added a pair of hits and two RBIs. Stracener ended up with a pair of hits and an RBI. Au added a solo home run in the game.
