Luford Harold Farmer was born in Cullman, Alabama to Glen and Dura Farmer on July 15, 1941. Harold had three sisters, Glynell Farmer Leathers, Margarett Farmer Bailey, and a stillborn infant sister named Wylodean Farmer.
A 1959 graduate of Fairview High School, Harold went on to earn three degrees from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, a Bachelor’s Degree in Math Education, a Master’s Degree in Math Education, and a Double-A Certificate in Math Education. After having taught middle-school and high school math, Harold became the founding member and first Math Department Head at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, Alabama. He retired from Wallace State in the year 2000.
Harold was married to Catherine Dobson Farmer in 1977. Their two children are Joseph Glen Farmer and Rachel Farmer Latham. Joseph Glen Farmer and his wife, Denise have two children, Asaiah and Sabrina, and they live near Phoenix, AZ. Rachel Farmer Latham is married to Justin Latham, and they have two sons, Eli and Rhett. The Latham Family live in Smokerise, which is in Blount County, Alabama.
Mr. Farmer passed away April 13, 2023 at CRMC. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Monday, April 17, 2023 at Cullman Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Simcoe Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m.
