CULLMAN, Ala. – Curt’s Closet is set to host its third annual Clothed in Cullman dinner and auction fundraiser at Stone Bridge Farms on Thursday, May 11, 2023. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., dinner will be served at 6:30 and the live auction begins at 7:30. Tickets are $50, or $400 for a table of eight.
The event acts as the primary fundraiser to keep the nonprofit’s mission of clothing kids in Cullman going. Items to be auctioned include vacations, tickets to Rock the South, several designer handbags and more.
Helen Lewis, member of the board of directors at Curt’s Closet, shared that the primary function of the auction is of course to raise funds, but also to show gratitude for the outpouring of support from the community.
“We use the funds to get clothing, backpacks, accessories, shoes for the kids because back to school will be here before we know it,” she said. “But we also use it as a day of getting together with the community, because we want to show our appreciation for all their support.”
When asked what dinner guests can expect of the program, Lewis shared, “It’s short and sweet. We give one award for our volunteer of the year. That’s our Connell Award.”
The Connell Award was the first recognition given at the inaugural Clothed in Cullman dinner and auction, named after Rick and Brenda Connell’s legacy with the organization. The award is given based not just on hours volunteered, but on total impact.
