CULLMAN, Ala. – In May 2022, construction of new buildings at Cullman Middle School began. However, according to the Cullman Middle School Principal Jake Johnson, the construction schedule has had a few setbacks due to some supply chain issues.
“We hope to move into the new facility by mid-October,” he said, “but we will not make definitive plans for the move until we are closer to the completion of the first phase of construction.”
Johnson continued, “Unlike the Cullman City Primary School project, the transition to the new building at Cullman Middle School will be seamless due to the students already being on the campus. The first phase of this project does not involve moving sixth grade from East and West.”
Construction is currently still in the first phase of the three-phase project. According to Johnson, the first phase of the project hinges on the certificate of occupancy issued by the Alabama Division of Construction Management.
Johnson also addressed potential concerns regarding construction interfering with school traffic. He said, “First Team Construction has been conscientious about our traffic flow concerns, especially during drop-off and pick-up times at CMS. They have been great to work with throughout this process!”
