Cullman City Council talks PALS cleanup, WildWater

CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman City Council on Monday night addressed the upcoming Cullman County/City Cleanup sponsored by Cullman People Against A Littered State (PALS). The event will take place Saturday, April 15, from 8 a.m.-noon. Residents can obtain free trash bags by contacting their respective city or town halls.

Dumpsters will be set up at:

  • West Elementary
  • East Elementary
  • Cullman High
  • Cold Springs High
  • Baileyton Town Hall
  • Colony Community Center
  • Crane Hill Sulphur Springs
  • Dodge City Fire Station
  • Fairview Community Park
  • Garden City maintenance area
  • Good Hope City Hall
  • Hanceville City Hall
  • Holly Pond Lions Club Park
  • Jones Chapel School
  • Vinemont First Baptist
  • West Point Town Hall

Cullman Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism Executive Director Nathan Anderson addressed the council about WildWater, which will open for the season Memorial Day Weekend. Anderson said season passes can be purchased now at a $30 discount. Go to www.wildwatercullman.com for more details. The following items were approved:

  • A special event request from Juliane Phillips for Kaleb’s 5K Run/Walk starting at 8 a.m. in Depot Park on April 8
  • A special event request from Tommy and Terry Waldrop for ERA Waldrop Real Estate Customer Appreciation at the Festhalle from 2-8:30 p.m. on May 19
  • A special event request from Gary Cornelius for Cullman County Relay for Life in Depot Park on April 29  
  • Resolution No. 2023-33 to enter into an agreement with Priority Dispatch for a comprehensive dispatch system
  • Resolution No. 2023-34 to enter into an agreement with Civic Plus for codification of municipal ordinances
  • Resolution No. 2023-35 to enter into an agreement with Avenu Insights & Analytics for license and tax recovery and discovery services
  • Resolution No. 2023-36 to enter into an agreement with Avenu Insights & Analytics for auxiliary license and tax auditing services      
  • Resolution No. 2023-37 to adopt the 2023 Municipal Water Pollution Prevention (MWPP) resolution                                                                                                                                                                       
  • First reading of Ordinance No. 2023-18, to annex property located on U.S. Highway 278 West beside I-65 as B-2 Business District, which received a favorable recommendation from the Planning Commission                 
  • First reading of Ordinance No. 2023-20 to vacate a utility easement on Lot 1 in the Abbey View Subdivision, which is not needed for public or municipal purposes
