Hanceville Happenings 

Holiday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clate Hamrick were Mr. and Mrs. Bert Hamrick, Mr. and Mrs. Quinnon Holmes and son and Mrs. Jack Waldrop and children, all of Birmingham and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hamrick and children, of Selma. 

Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Winfred Chappell last week were Reverend and Mrs. Robert Webb and Danny, of Chattanooga and Mrs. Gertrude Wheeler, of Nashville. 

Mrs. L.M. Bland has as her dinner guests on Thursday, Mr. and Mrs. E.J. McGlawn, of Birmingham, Reverend and Mrs. William Curl, of Cullman, Mr. and Mrs. Plez Curl, of Blount County and Mr. and Mrs. Bert McGlawn. 

Mr. and Mrs. Talmadge Chappell and boys and Mrs. J. Nesmith were the Sunday afternoon guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Nesmith and Randy, in Hartselle. 

Sergeant and Mrs. Paul Meadows announce the birth of a daughter at the Cullman Hospital, on December 28th, whom they have named Nancy Kay. 

Mr. and Mrs. Grady Johnston, of Birmingham, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. James Johnston. 

Mrs. Pichelmeyer and son, John Pichelmeyer, of Birmingham, were the guests of Mrs. W.H. Clapp, Senior, on Thursday night and Friday. 

Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Dean and Mr. and Mrs. William Dean, of Birmingham, were the guests on Saturday of Mr. and Mrs. S.M. Casey. 

Mrs. Frank Ballard and Larry and Sergeant and Mrs. Earnest McNabb and Eddie are the weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Whitfield and family in Atlanta, Georgia. 

Mrs. Cynthia Cook visited Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Cagle, at Center Hill, on Saturday. 

Master Sergeant Clifford Pike, son, of Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Pike, of Route Seven, Cullman, was recently featured in an article in Stars and Stripes by Nick Raymond from Maison Fort, France, where the sergeant is stationed. 

Mrs. T.S. Morrow, age 48, wife of the director of the Cullman Experiment Station, died at her home on Route Seven, Cullman, on Saturday morning. 

A native of Cullman County, Mrs. Morrow, the former Clara Morris, was reared at West Point. 

Surviving are her husband, one daughter, Peggy Morrow, a student at API, Auburn, her mother, Mrs. Lucy Morris, two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Chaney and Mrs. Jewell Bland and two brothers, John and Judge Morris. 

Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church, at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, with the Reverend Andrew Coltharp officiating and Moss Service directing interment in City Cemetery. 

Pallbearers were Doctor W.G. Eaton, Troy Thompson, K.P. Morris, Earl Self, U.G. Haynes and L.T. Burleson. 

Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Roberson, of Birmingham announce the birth of a daughter on Monday, January 8th. They have named her Karen Lynne. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Camp and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Roberson, all of Cullman. 

M.E. Speegle Dies 

Milton E. Speegle, age 76, died at his Route Three, Cullman residence and funeral services were held at Bowman Chapel on January 1st

Surviving are one son, Carl Speegle, one daughter, Mrs. Thelma Adamson and four grandchildren.
