UPDATE (6:32 a.m.) Cullman County Coroner Jeremy Kilpatrick has confirmed that a second person has died as a result of the fire.

HOLLY POND, Ala. – An early morning house fire in the Holly Pond area has claimed the life of at least one individual, according to Jeremy Kilpatrick, Cullman County Coroner.
“I can confirm we do have one fatality,” Coroner Kilpatrick said shortly after arriving at the scene.
The fire took place at a private residence located at 2205 CR 1728. Coroner Kilpatrick arrived on scene shortly after 3:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
“We are still working but will have more information later,” he said.
Fire departments from Baileyton, Holly Pond, Joppa, Berlin and Walter were all on scene still extinguishing the fire at 5 a.m.
More information will be made available as the scene is processed later today.
