Obituary: Quinn Millard Quick

Quinn Millard Quick, age 89, of Cullman, Alabama passed away on Friday, Feb. 17, 2023.

Quinn was born Dec. 1, 1933 to Millard and Mae Quick in the West Point area of Cullman County, Alabama. He grew up there and graduated from West Point High School in 1952.

Quinn was a competitor and participated in basketball and baseball in high school and as a young adult in Independent Leagues in Cullman and the Birmingham area.

He married Glenda Talley in 1956. He and Glenda settled in the Huffman area of Birmingham, Alabama, where they lived until moving back to Cullman after the birth of their daughter, Vonda, in 1965.

Quinn always demonstrated a passion for sports and was an avid bowler, golfer, hunter, and fisherman. He supported and encouraged his daughter to be all that she could be. He was her biggest encourager and Glenda’s “rock.” He had a special way of making each of them feel loved. Quinn’s pride and joy were his grandchildren. He loved to make them laugh and to tell them how proud he was of them whenever he had a chance.

Quinn enjoyed a long career in sales in Birmingham, Alabama. Quinn was honored to have been a member of First Baptist Church Cullman for most of his adult life.

A visitation for Quinn will be held Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Moss Service Funeral Home, 1901 2nd Avenue NW, Cullman, Alabama 35055. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer Cemetery, 2245 Co. Rd. 1242, Vinemont, AL 35179 with Dr. Edwin Hayes officiating.

Survivors are: wife: Glenda Quick, daughter: Vonda (Dr. Philip Tankersley) Tankersley, Sister: June Coppock; sisters-in-law, Joyce (Jerry) Bradley, Dioma (Ronald) Swann and Jerry Talley; grandchildren: Elizabeth Tankersley, Benjamin Tankersley, a host of nieces and nephews.
