Susan Ann Wood, of Vinemont, Alabama, passed away on Feb. 17, 2023, at the age of 57. Ms. Wood was born in Cullman County, Alabama, on Nov 13, 1965, to Ralph J. and Lora Nell Graves Wood.
Ms. Wood was a member of the Fairview Nazarene Church. She loved reading and she enjoyed wordsearch puzzles. She enjoyed painting acrylics as well. Susan enjoyed outdoor activities and she particularly enjoyed boat rides, camping, and fishing. She loved animals and dogs and horses seemed to be her favorite. Ms. Wood enjoyed playing games and cards with her family and friends. Susan had an incredible sense of humor and she enjoyed laughing with those she loved. She was a very cheerful woman and her positive outlook brought joy to all those she knew. Susan loved her family dearly and they cherished her as well. She was a light in the darkness for many and she will be missed greatly by all those who knew and loved her.
Ms. Wood is preceded in death by her father, Ralph J. Wood; stepfather, James Hughes; daughter, Lora Nichole Lee; and brother, Billy Wood.
Those surviving Ms. Wood includes her mother, Lora Hughes; life partner, Christopher Fitzgerald; sons, James Lee (Leslie), Scotty Lee (Kera); daughter, Amanda Privett (Johnny); brother, James Wood (Tammy); sister, Nora Faye Riley (Glenn); grandchildren, Kayleigh Lee, Talea Lee, William Privett, Jacob Privett; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday evening, Feb. 21, 2023, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services for Susan will follow on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023, at 12 p.m., in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor James McGraw officiating. Burial will follow services in New Jerusalem Baptist Church Cemetery in Joppa, Alabama, where Matthew Wood, Dabid Babula, and Andy Wood will serve as pallbearers.
