It is with very mixed emotions that my sister and I announce the passing of our beloved mother, Jackie Greene. She left us Jan. 21, 2023, about 10 a.m., and she will be sorely missed, but we are comforted knowing her suffering is over.
Jacquelyn Peterson was born July 21, 1938, in Memphis. She had a difficult childhood and early adulthood, but persevered. She eventually found her way to Hot Springs, AR, where she met the love of her life, our Dad Sidney. They were married about a year later on Oct. 27, 1962. If Dad had lived another 2 months, they would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last year. Her main goal in life was to be a good mother and wife, and she was a great success on both counts. She was loved by just about anyone she met. She was a very genuine, caring and fun woman.
And, she has been a great example of how to live with a disability, greeting her limitations with a sense of grace, humility and humor. Please take a moment soon and raise a glass of wine (preferably merlot) to remember and celebrate the life of a wonderful and delightful person.
In lieu of flowers, she asked that you make a donation to the FSHD Society, which is an organization that helps fund research to develop treatments for the type of muscular dystrophy that has so dramatically affected our family.
