Robert Elmer (Bob) Waters, 91
Robert Elmer (Bob) Waters, age 91, passed away on Jan. 21, 2023. He was born on March 9, 1931, to John and Laura Livingston Waters. Bob grew up in a large loving family with his nine siblings in Hanceville, Alabama, and graduated from Hanceville High School in 1950. After high school, Bob joined the Air Force where he met his wife, Betty, who was an Air Force flight nurse. He proudly served his country for 21 years. His time of service included the Korean and Vietnam War Era.
Upon his retirement from the Air Force, Bob founded and became the paramedic director of the Cullman Emergency Medical Service where he worked for 17 years. He later worked for Hanceville Funeral Home as a licensed funeral director.
Bob was an active member of Hanceville First Baptist Church for many years where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher.
He was preceded in death by; wife of 61 years, Betty Evans Waters; his parents; brothers, Verlon, Ervin and Dwight Waters; sisters, Effie Edwards, Ethel Graves, Evelyn Ratliff and Louise Gonstad.
He is survived by a sister, Jennie Passarella; a brother, Leon (Kathryn) Waters; daughter, Crystal (Dwayne) Hood; grandchildren, Rob, John and Kate Hood; and a host of very special nieces and nephews.
Jimmy Sawyer was a special friend to Bob. He will officiate the graveside service at Hopewell Cemetery on Monday, Jan. 23 at 11 a.m.
