Darrel ‘Doc’ Holcombe, 86, of Cullman, passed away Jan., 14 2023, at River City Nursing Home in Decatur, AL. He was born to George Ivey and Lois Henry on Oct. 6, 1936, in Holly Pond, AL. He was a 1955 graduate of Holly Pond High School. He was married to Mavel Gwen Holcombe for 59 years and was a member of Northside Baptist Church where he served as deacon for many years. He was an avid woodworker and spent his spare time building furniture in his shop.
The family will receive friends at Moss Service Funeral Home in Cullman, on Wednesday, Jan. 18, from 12 noon until the Celebration of Doc’s life that will begin at 1 p.m. Reverend Dennis Trimble will be officiating, with graveside services to follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Mr. Holcombe is survived by his sister; Jane (Don) Bates, his daughter-in-law; Mary Fannin Holcombe, his grandchildren; Emily (Cody) McCluskey, and Christy (Sonny) Keeble, and three great grandchildren; Joshua Keeble, Michael Keeble, and Ethan McCluskey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Ivey and Lois Henry Holcombe, his brothers; George I Holcombe Jr., James (Jim) Holcombe, Wayne Holcombe, his sisters; Faye Holcombe Walker, Melba Holcombe Reid, Charlotte Holcombe Torbert-Crook, his wife, Gwen Martin Holcombe and two children; David Holcombe and Dwight Holcombe.
