Local schools hosting Veterans Day events

CULLMAN, Ala. – Several Cullman County schools and those in the surrounding area will host Veterans Day programs to allow students to honor the veterans in their lives and learn about the sacrifices they have made. Each event will host area veterans, most of whom have been invited by students, but many events welcome all veterans to give the students the chance to show their thanks.  

Local Veterans Day events include: 

Wednesday, Nov. 9 

  • Vinemont Elementary School: 8:30 a.m. in the school gym. All veterans and public are welcome.  

Thursday, Nov. 10 

  • Hanceville Middle and High Schools: 8:30 a.m. in the high school gym. There will be designated seating for veterans and their families. In order to make proper arrangements, the school will need visitors who plan to attend to fill out a form at  https://tinyurl.com/HancevilleVeterans.  
  • Holly Pond High School: 9 a.m. in the school gym. The HPHS Veterans Day committee will be making a Salute to our Veterans PowerPoint this year with photos and information submitted by students. All veterans and their families are welcome to come early at 8 a.m. for the Veterans breakfast served by the HPHS Key Club.   
  • West Point Schools: 9 a.m. in the elementary school gym. Each elementary grade will put on a musical performance for the veterans. Students are encouraged to invite the veterans in their families. 
  • Good Hope High School: 10:30 a.m. in the school gym. Local veterans are invited to attend for a presentation of colors by the Junior ROTC, high school band performance and speeches by various speakers honoring the veterans. 
  • Meek High School: 1 p.m. in the school gym. All veterans and community are welcome. There will be a reception with snacks and refreshments for veterans and their families after the program.  
  • Cullman High School: 1 p.m. in the school auditorium. The annual event will recognize veterans of faculty, students and their families. All veterans and their families are welcome to attend. 

Tuesday, Nov. 15 

  • Welti Elementary School: 6 p.m. in the school gym. The second grade will put on a performance honoring local veterans. The public is welcome to attend.
