Crane Hill couple killed in Hwy. 157 crash

CULLMAN, Ala. – A husband and wife from Crane Hill were killed Wednesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash along Alabama Highway 157 in Cullman County. Cullman County Coroner Jeremy Kilpatrick identified the victims as Charles H. Johnson, 71, and Connie C. Johnson, 74.  

The crash happened at approximately 1:30 in the eastbound lanes of Hwy. 157 near R.E. Garrison Trucking, west of the city of Cullman. Kilpatrick said the Johnsons were pronounced dead at the scene.  

Alabama State Troopers said the Johnsons were killed when the 2018 Chevrolet Cruze they were traveling in was struck by a 2018 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Monica A. Williford, 24, of Florence.  

Williford and her passenger, Christopher L. Russell, 24, also of Florence, were transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for medical treatment.  

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
