Funeral service for Melvin Timothy Purvis, age 59, will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022, at Cullman Funeral Home. Visitation will be from noon -2 p.m. prior to the service.
Mr. Purvis passed away on 10/21/2022 at his home in Crane Hill, Alabama following a long illness. Born March 3, 1963, in Birmingham, to Melvin Purvis and Frances Blackwell Purvis, he was preceded in death by both parents. Survived by his daughter: Jessica Coursey of Atlanta (CJ Coursey); granddaughter: Addilyn Coursey; sister: Karen Harris (Ed Harris); brother: Craig Purvis; and a host of nieces and nephews: John Harris, Heather Harris, Eric Harris, Brooke Harris, Brittany Purvis, and Candice Purvis.
A carpenter by trade, Tim was a devoted Alabama fan and the first to call “Roll Tide” regardless of game time or location. Passionate about music, he enjoyed challenging friends and family with music trivia. Grilling T-bone steaks for friends and family, whether at home or one of his favorite destinations – Smith Lake, Warrior River, or Panama City, brought him immense joy.
Over the course of many health issues, he maintained a laid-back perspective and rarely complained. The family is forever grateful to the dedicated love and attention shown to him by his niece Brittany.
Cullman Funeral Home, located at 461 US Highway 278, Cullman, AL, has been entrusted with arrangements. Burial will be at Cullman City Cemetery immediately following the service.
