CULLMAN, Ala. – Victim Services will host its annual masquerade ball fundraiser on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at Brick Haven Venue on Highway 278 West. The nonprofit’s event will begin at 6 p.m. and run until 10.

Held each year in October – Domestic Violence Awareness Month – the fundraiser will feature a five-course dinner, drinks, music by local sensation Brez and a silent auction. The masquerade ball will benefit those in our community who seek crisis intervention and recovery from the effects of domestic violence.

Statistically, 20 individuals suffer physical abuse every 60 seconds in the United States. This amounts to over 10,000,000 Americans per year. One in three women and one in four men experience physical violence from an intimate partner in their lifetime. And 20% of American women have been raped, nearly half of those are by someone known to them.

Victim Services can help. Since 1991, the nonprofit has provided assistance to domestic violence and sexual assault survivors. Its services are provided free of charge to the survivors, which is why fundraising efforts are vital.

Just in time for the cool autumn temperatures, the silent auction will include a four-night stay at Tide Water Beach Resort in Panama City Beach and a fishing trip for six in Destin.

Tickets are tax deductible and available for $50. They can be purchased at the Victim Services office at 310 Third Ave. NE, People Bank main branch, Gateway Mortgage and at https://tinyurl.com/VSOCBall
