West Point taking applications for parks and recreation director, maintenance worker

WEST POINT, Ala. -At its regular council meeting Monday, the West Point Town Council announced it is accepting applications for the open positions of parks and recreation director and maintenance worker.  Applications can be picked up at West Point Town Hall Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m.-noon.  

In old business, the council recently purchased a John Deere Gator UTV for park maintenance for $14,350 from TriGreen Equipment in Snead.

New playground equipment has been installed at the town park. Mayor Gerald Schafer said new chain link fencing will be added.

New LED lights for the walking trail should arrive Oct. 24 and will be installed the following week.  

The Town’s first trunk or treat will be held Friday, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m. outside town hall (3990 County Road 1141) near the ballpark. Soup, hot chocolate and coffee will be served, and there will be kids’ games, prizes for best costume and more. To participate/decorate a trunk, call 516-297-3236.
