Obituary: David Gene Ford

We are sad to announce the passing of David Gene Ford on Oct. 9, 2022. He was 72 years old. He was a beloved, devoted, and caring husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He was surrounded by family and friends at home in Cullman, Alabama.

He courageously battled cancer for nearly a year.

He was born in Zanesville, Ohio, to Russell Sellers Ford and Lois Juanita Ford.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and granddaughter: Marianna Rodriguez.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years: Anna Ford; brothers: Russell “Jim” (Maryann) Ford from Zanesville, Ohio, and Steven Ford from Gallaway, Ohio; sister: Nancy (Chuck) Kline from Gallaway, Ohio; children: Freeley (Delbert) Chaney from Zanesville, Ohio, Robert (Josi) Kranz from Millersburg, Ohio, Leah (Tony) Brewer from Galllon, Ohio, David L. (Faith) Ford from Cullman, Alabama, and Lucy (Steve) Hayhurst-Gill from White Cottage, Ohio; stepchildren: Nicholas Lovern, from Athol Massachusetts, Amy (Alexis) Lovern from Athol, Massachusetts, and Jordon McDowell from Lancaster, Massachusetts.

Dave was a proud and loving grandfather of 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Dave went to West Muskinghum High School in Zanesville, Ohio. He later got his GED. Dave was a truck driver and a maintenance man for several years.

He made friends wherever he went. He loved animals, gardening, and watching sunrises and sunsets. He found solace during his illness watching the hummingbirds and butterflies out of the windows.
