ALICEVILLE, Ala. – The Eagles took a tough loss to Winston County on the road last week, but they had to regroup quickly and travel to Aliceville for another regional game Friday night. Cold Springs held a lead over Aliceville in the first quarter, but the Yellow Jackets dominated the final three on their way to a 52-8 win over the Eagles.
Following an early Aliceville touchdown, Victor Laurentius found the end zone for the Eagles and Josh Winfrey ran in the two-point conversion to put Cold Springs in front 8-7 with just over four minutes remaining in the opening period. Unfortunately, that was the only lead the Eagles would have all night.
The Yellow Jackets put 23 unanswered points on the board before halftime to build up a 30-8 lead going into the locker room at the break. Two more Aliceville touchdowns made it a 44-8 game going into the fourth quarter and the Yellow Jackets found the end zone more time in the final frame to wrap up a 52-8 win over Cold Springs.
The Eagles drop to 3-5 with the loss and they’ll be back home next week for another regional matchup against Greene County.
