VINEMONT, Ala. – “Nightmare in Vinemont,” the popular haunted house attraction organized by the Vinemont-Providence Volunteer Fire Department is returning for its third year. It will run from 7 p.m.- midnight Oct. 14-15, 21-22 and 28-29 at the Cullman County Agricultural Trade Center at 17645 U.S. Highway 31, Cullman, AL 35058.
Tickets are $20 for those 10 and older and $10 for those 9 and younger for a trip through the haunted house, followed by a haunted hayride that will wind around the wooded area around the Cullman County Association of Volunteer Departments’ training center.
The attraction was created as a fundraiser for the Vinemont-Providence VFD’s Fire Explorer Program for those ages 14-18.
Organizer Heather Doyle said, “It’s an opportunity for kids to join the fire department as a young explorer.”
Classes are offered for Emergency Services and Preparedness (ESP), Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). Kids can come to one of the fire department’s stations and fill out an application. Call 256-739-5855 for more details.
The haunted house currently has around 75 volunteers signed up to participate, more than both previous years.
Said Doyle, “We’re hoping it’ll be bigger and better this year.”
Organizers are still looking for a few extra volunteers to work along the haunted hayride. Any students who need volunteer hours are invited to join the assortment of Halloween characters in waiting to scare visitors. Volunteers are welcome to bring their own costumes, but there will also be a few available to borrow. Volunteers should arrive before 7 p.m. if they need Halloween make-up done. Anyone interested can message the Nightmare in Vinemont Facebook page at https://tinyurl.com/NMinVinemont.
Outside the main Ag Center complex will be a big screen with favorite horror films for guests to enjoy. The concession stand at the Ag Center will be open for guests the entire evening.
